La Policía justificó su falta de intervención inicial en el incendio del supermercado La Victoria. José Luis Brizuela, titular de la Comisaría Segunda de Ushuaia, deslindó responsabilidades tras las críticas recibidas por parte de la comunidad. Alegó que el fuego ya había avanzado al interior del depósito y que se priorizó la detención del sospechoso señalado como autor del siniestro.
En diálogo con la prensa, el comisario inspector José Luis Brizuela, titular de la Comisaría Segunda de Ushuaia, explicó la actuación policial durante el incendio que destruyó el supermercado La Victoria, en la madrugada del miércoles último. Las fotografías y videos que circularon en las redes sociales muestran a un patrullero detenido en la esquina de las calles Kuanip y Tolhuin, sin intervención en el foco igneo inicial que luego se transformaría en incontrolable. Según Brizuela, al llegar los efectivos al lugar “el fuego ya estaba avanzado y había ingresado al depósito interno del comercio”.
“Cuando llegó el personal, el fuego ya estaba avanzado, no solo afuera, sino para el sector interno del depósito, donde hay un portón metálico que estaba cerrado”, señaló el comisario. Asimismo, destacó que “los agentes dieron aviso inmediato al cuartel de bomberos a través de la central de comunicaciones”.
Brizuela indicó que, en paralelo, los efectivos se abocaron a la aprehensión de un hombre que fue señalado por testigos como el autor del incendio. El sospechoso fue interceptado a pocos metros del lugar y permanece detenido e incomunicado, en el marco de una causa investigada por la Fiscalía y el Juzgado de Instrucción de feria.
El titular de la comisaría insistió en que “el fuego estaba próximo a uno de los portones de ingreso, pero ya había ingresado”, a la vez que reiteró que “al arribar, los agentes se encontraron con una fogata que ya tomaba dimensiones importantes y la prioridad fue actuar contra el presunto autor”.
El comisario inspector añadió que las cámaras de videovigilancia y otros elementos constituirán un aporte importante para determinar fehaciéntemente cómo comenzó el incendio aunque nada dijo si los patrulleros policiales están equipados con el matafuego reglamentario u otros elementos que podrían haber sido útiles en la contención inicial del fuego.
Cabe destacarse que ocasionales automovilistas que pasaron por el lugar, se dedicaron a filmar o fotografiar la bolsa de basura que el sujeto detenido momentos más tarde, Omar Roldán, había encendido en el sector de la vereda próximo al portón de ingreso del depósito del supermercado, en vez de intervenir. Se aprecia con claridad que se trata de una fogata de menores dimensiones que fácilmente hubiera sido extinguida con un matafuegos de mano o apartándola con un palo o algo similar hacia la calle. El pequeño foco terminó convirtiéndose en un desastre que provocó 100% de pérdidas, puso en riesgo la integridad de los vecinos domiciliados en las viviendas de madera linderas y afectó la fuente laboral de más de 20 personas.
