El domingo se desarrolló en la ciudad de Puerto Madryn, la XII Edición de Vuelta Ballenas, la prueba de Mountain Bike que va en camino de ser la más importante de la Patagonia y de la cual participaron 31 ciclistas fueguinos.
El evento, que congregó a unos 900 ciclistas este año y en la mayor distancia, los 63 kilómetros, se quedó con el título nuevamente el ciclista oriundo de General Roca, Río Negro, el joven Franco Orocito, que volvió a festejar en la general masculina de la competencia, luego de haber ganado la edición 2023.
Orocito, marcó un tiempo de 2m16s13s, escoltado por el trelewense John Lloyd que hizo un tiempo de 2.17.30 y el oriundo de Choele Choele, Emiliano Pérez con una marca de 2.19.25, se ubicó en el tercer puesto.
En tanto, en la rama femenina, el primer puesto en los 63K también fue una vez mas para Jesica Cantelmi: Chiquita había sido campeona en la edición 2023 y repitió una vez mas este 2024, al quedarse con el primer escalón del podio de la prueba con un tiempo de 2.40.08.
La ciclista pampeana fue escoltada por la chubutense Nathalia Delgado, que hizo un tiempo de 2.45.30; mientras que el tercer puesto fue para la santacruceña Cinthia Bustamante.
Aaron Pintos, el mejor fueguino
Nuevamente Aaron Pintos, el mejor ciclista fueguino en los últimos tres años, volvió a meter un Top 10 en una general nacional, fue octavo de 620 corredores y logró llegar al podio en la divisional Master A1 al subir al tercer puesto de la clasificación.
El Sureño logró tener su testimonio donde el corredor riograndense confió que hasta el kilómetros 43 fue una carrera, y en los 20 restantes otra; en la primera etapa mencionada, Pintos se ubicó en varios pasajes en segundo lugar, escoltando a Orocito, y junto a él se plegaron John Lloyd y Emiliano Pérez, sacando una buena diferencia sobre el segundo grupo, pero al llegar al tramo final, comenzó con calambres en sus dos piernas lo que lo obligó a levantar el ritmo que llevaba para no explotarse, y eso fue aprovechado por sus dos rivales para dejarlo atrás, y en el tiempo que le costó recuperarse, también fue superado por tres rivales más.
Consultado por los mencionado calambres, el ciclista manifestó que hacía mucho que no se subía a su rodado de competencia -siempre entrena con un muleto-, y que quizás la altura del asiento no estaba a su mediada justa y eso mermó su andar.
Nuevamente Fran Zamora tuvo una gran carrera; el año pasado fue el mejor fueguino en la clasificación al llegar 26, y en esta oportunidad arribó en el puesto 25 alcanzando un octavo puesto en Master A2, seguido de cerca por el ushuaiense Nehuén Anderfurn quien fue noveno en la misma divisional y 31 en la general, mientras que Gustavo Santana fue séptimo en Elite y 39 en la general, mientras que César Ferreira fue 45 y el capitalino Gonzalo Pasdevicelli llegó en el puesto 48.
Agostina Melgarejo, brillante
Una de las dos mejores corredoras fueguinas, este año por resultados la mejor, tuvo una actuación excelente, fue séptima en la general de Damas, pero lo más importante es que fue la ganadora entre las Elite, donde veinte chicas pelearon por el primer puesto.
Mientras Agostina aguardaba que la barcaza volviese a funcionar para cruzar el estrecho, tuvo la posibilidad de dialogar en el programa deportivo Fair Play que se emite por FM Fuego, 90.1, donde manifestó su alegría por la gran labor realizada en Puerto Madryn,
“La verdad que me encantó el circuito, fue muy divertido, nos tocó un día con algo de calor y mucho viento que nos favoreció a los fueguinos”.
“La largada fue complicada porque largamos todos juntos, y logré ubicarme bastante bien, no tan atrás, largué con toda mi fuerza intentando acomodarme lo mejor posible para ingresar bien al sendero, donde ya sabíamos que era difícil el traspaso”.
“A diez kilómetros de la llegada alguien de la organización me alentó diciéndome que iba en sexto lugar, lo que me dio más fuerzas justo en el momento que el viento lo tenía de frente y que era bastante fuerte; por suerte entrené mucho en el viento y no me afectó demasiado”.
“Este año no saldré a competir fuera de la Isla, me abocaré a los rallies que se vienen ahora que son las mejores pruebas de la provincia, y el año que viene encararé distinto mis participaciones nacionales, y volveré a Vuelta Ballenas con más experiencia y con ganas de mejor mi performance”.
