A la espera de los últimos rastrillajes se planean nuevas acciones para dar con el paradero del caminante. Gobierno dio a conocer detalles del operativo.
El Comité Operativo de Búsqueda de Elio Torres, conformado por el Ministerio de Gobierno, Justicia y Derechos Humanos a través de la Secretaría de Protección Civil, la Armada Argentina, Gendarmería Nacional, Policía Provincial, voluntarios Caminantes de Península Mitre y Defensa Civil Municipal de Ushuaia dieron a conocer datos sobre las tareas realizadas durante los más de 20 días de búsqueda intensiva en la zona del extravío.
En el intento de ubicar a Torres, se recorrieron a pie más de 490 kilómetros, enfrentando condiciones climáticas sumamente desfavorables. A lo largo de más de 23 jornadas de búsqueda intensiva en las proximidades de Bahía Thetis, se ejecutaron operaciones exhaustivas con el propósito de localizar al abogado riograndense.
El recorrido se realizó dividiendo a los rescatistas en equipos A y B, cubriendo un extenso terreno en condiciones desafiantes. Los días siguientes se exploraron las bahías, acantilados, valles y zonas boscosas cercanas, considerando diversos escenarios. A pesar de los esfuerzos incansables, no lograron dar con rastros de peso, que movilizaran a nuevas actuaciones.
Derivado de los rastrillajes realizados se hallaron 3 huellas, las cuales no arrojaron indicios de pertenecer a Torres. Sin embargo, los especialistas recorrieron posibles áreas hacía donde se podrían dirigir las mismas, no generando pruebas fehacientes del paradero del caminante extraviado.
Por aire, en sobrevuelos realizados por el equipo oficial, se inspeccionaron en Península Mitre aproximadamente 2000 km, recorriendo puntos estratégicos relacionados con la búsqueda y en constante comunicación con el personal participante de la operación.
Por otra parte, el Comité Operativo solicitó informes a la empresa del InReach que poseía Elio Torres, La misma proporcionó un historial detallado de la señal del dispositivo.
Por su parte, la Armada Argentina apostada en Bahía Buen Suceso, realizó actividades de apoyo en la búsqueda. En la primera operación del 31 de julio, participaron 114 efectivos, mientras que 12 de agosto acompañó en los rastrillajes con 93 personas. En ambos casos, se patrulló las costas y se desembarcó personal en tierra, con la intención de cubrir la zona suroeste de la península.
Las autoridades destacaron el compromiso de todos los participantes del operativo y continúan planificando nuevas acciones, teniendo en cuenta la climatología de las próximas semanas.
Por lo pronto, dos patrullas de la Armada se desplegaron simultáneamente el último sábado, en una estrategia coordinada. Desde Moat, un grupo se dirige hacia al faro de Cabo San Pío; en paralelo, en Bahía Buen Suceso, otro emprende su travesía hacia Bahía Valentín, planeando llegar a su destino también en los próximos días
