Total Energies anunció oficialmente la finalización de la instalación de la plataforma costa afuera, operada por Total Austral junto con sus socios Wintershall Dea Argentina y Pan American Energy. Se trata de un paso firme hacia la puesta en producción del proyecto gasífero costa afuera más importante de la Argentina.
“Tierra del Fuego, es una tierra con mucho potencial en sus recursos naturales, y hoy esta inversión de un grupo empresario argentino y extranjero de más de 700 millones de dólares es una gran noticia, no solo para nuestra provincia, sino para todo el país”, destacó Melella.
Con el arribo del deck (parte superior de la plataforma) a las costas fueguinas y su instalación, Total Energies concluye la segunda etapa del proyecto. Las etapas siguientes serán la conexión con el gasoducto a la plataforma Vega Pleyade y la perforación de tres pozos.
La noticia fue dada a conocer una vez concretado con éxito el traslado transoceánico del deck desde Italia hacia Argentina y su instalación en el Mar Austral Argentino, cumpliendo así el objetivo de completar la instalación de la plataforma en el primer trimestre de 2024.
Las cubiertas del deck de la plataforma Fénix suman una superficie total de 2.500 metros cuadrados e incluyen cinco niveles: el helipuerto, la cubierta superior, la cubierta principal (donde están ubicadas las cabezas de pozos y la sala de instrumentos), y la cubierta inferior o de acceso. El diseño de la plataforma permitirá operarla desde tierra, sin necesidad de tripulación permanente.
Desde la compañía se indicó que la conexión final del gasoducto submarino que unirá Fénix y Vega Pléyade está prevista para la primera mitad de este año. Por último, se procederá a la perforación de los tres pozos que entrarán en producción a partir de noviembre de 2024. Esta será la tercera y última etapa del proyecto.
El ministro de Energía de la provincia, Alejandro Aguirre, recordó que “una vez puesto en producción, Fénix suministrará al mercado argentino de gas con hasta 10 millones de metros cúbicos por día, lo que representa entre el 8% y 10% de la producción actual de gas del país, aportando hasta 10 millones de metros cúbicos de gas por día para abastecer la demanda local”.
El gas natural que se extraerá de Fénix será acondicionado con mano de obra local e inyectado al gasoducto General San Martín, abasteciendo la cadena de valor nacional hasta llegar a los puntos de consumo en los principales centros urbanos del país.
