Al ser alertados, el equipo de Búsqueda y Rescate de Defensa Civil Municipal, junto a la unidad K9 «Ona», accionó en la búsqueda de una mujer que pescaba en la zona del Punta María. Su esposo fue quien alertó a las autoridades de seguridad al no visibilizarla más.
Defensa Civil Municipal integra el operativo de búsqueda por tierra, el cual se despliega 5 km al norte y 5 km al sur de Punta María, desde Cabo Peña a Cabo Auricosta. Durante el día, el operativo se realiza en baja mar y pleamar.
Es importante destacar el rápido trabajo conjunto que desarrolla Defensa Civil, fuerzas provinciales y Prefectura Naval para encontrar a la mujer que aún continúa extraviada.
