Se trata de vecinos que residían en distintos asentamientos como El Escondido, Obrero y otros de la zona alta de Ushuaia conocida como “Macizos K y D”.
La construcción de las casas de chapa y panelería de yeso, cercadas y con veredas, se enmarca en un convenio firmado entre la Municipalidad de Ushuaia y el Ministerio de Desarrollo Social de la Nación. Los espacios recuperados serán saneados.
La Municipalidad de Ushuaia entregó viviendas ubicadas en el macizo K y D a vecinos de la ciudad, en el marco de un convenio que firmó el intendente Walter Vuoto con el Gobierno nacional para la construcción de soluciones habitacionales, a fin de reubicar a familias de distintos barrios de la ciudad.
El objetivo de la iniciativa, enmarcada en el proyecto de Integración Socio Urbana de Barrios Populares, es el saneamiento y apertura de calles en un amplio sector de la ciudad que se encontraba contaminado por aguas servidas y conexiones clandestinas que no cumplían con las medidas de seguridad y salubridad necesarias para mantener la salud del ambiente y de los humanos.
El secretario de Hábitat y Ordenamiento Territorial del Municipio, David Ferreyra, precisó que el objetivo final es lograr la reubicación de unas 700 familias y trabajar en el saneamiento del cañadon que se encuentra en la zona.
Las viviendas están construídas con recubrimiento exterior de chapa e interno de paneles de yeso y tabiquería; están dotadas de calefón, bajomesadas y mesadas de acero inoxidable, sanitarios completos y pisos de cerámica. Cada predio está delimitado por su correspondiente cerco y cuentan con senderos y veredas de cemento. Debido a que no existe red de gas natural en el sector, cada unidad cuenta con un zepelin.
