El gobernador Melella ratificó que el Secretario de Enlace con las Fuerzas Policiales, el suboficial retirado José Díaz seguirá en el cargo a pesar de la denuncia y el vídeo donde se lo ve golpeando a otra persona en Tolhuin.
Nuevamente y tal como lo hizo con el funcionario narco Gustavo Caro que siguió en el Gobierno a pesar de estar involucrado con una banda repartía droga en la provincia en una camioneta oficial del Gobierno.
Otra vez Melella sale a respaldar a un funcionario denunciado en la Justicia. Incluso el gobernador desmintió que Jose Diaz haya renunciado; “Él no presentó nunca la renuncia eso surgió desde algún medio, está en su trabajo como siempre, hemos iniciado lo que corresponde para determinar lo sucedido”. Incluso redobló, “tampoco se la he pedido , lo ratifico en el cargo y en los próximos días se verá”.
En cuanto al incidente ocurrido en Tolhuin en que Díaz tomó a golpes de puño al policía retirado Hugo Moya; Melella fue preguntado respecto del mismo; “en el incidente hay cuestiones particulares, si bien es funcionario, a nadie le gusta que lo insulten”.
“Esa persona en un medio radial lo había acusado de asesinar a Jorge Coldorf (quien fuera secretario de Obras Públicas de la gestión municipal de Melella y falleció por razones de salud), yo no justifico la violencia pero tampoco justifico que una persona diga cualquier cosa de otra”, dijo Melella con evidente enojo.
