El deporte de Ushuaia tuvo su tarde de fiesta este sábado con la primera edición de los Premios Olivia, cuya entrega fue encabezada por el intendente Walter Vuoto.
Los Premios Olivia son el resultado de una iniciativa del Instituto Municipal de Deportes que fue impulsada en el Concejo Deliberante por el edil Nicolás Pelloli y que contó con el acompañamiento unánime de sus pares.
La joven atleta Renata Godoy, de notables actuaciones en el ámbito nacional e internacional, obtuvo el Olivia de Oro, mientras que Juan Eleicegui, integrante de la Selección Nacional de Hockey sobre Patines, se quedó con el Olivia de Platino.
El intendente Vuoto sostuvo que “esta instancia que nos toca vivir hoy es muy importante porque los protagonistas son los y las deportistas de la ciudad”, y además “es un reconocimiento a las familias que acompañan día a día y a los dirigentes deportivos que los apoyan”.
“Esto es el principio de algo muy positivo, es premiar el esfuerzo que hacen los deportistas y el tiempo que decidan para mejorar y es n estímulo para que sigan avanzando en lo que les gusta y lo que aman”, remarcó.
También destacó que “somos una ciudad que tiene un empuje para desarrollar eventos deportivos nacionales e internacionales de calidad, que además proyectan a nuestros deportistas al país y al mundo”.
Finalmente, Vuoto aseveró que “hay un grupo de hombres y mujeres que los acompañan desde un Instituto Municipal de Deportes que está comprometido para apoyar, y la decisión política de esta gestión es que estos Premios Olivia sigan creciendo y es seguir acompañando al deporte”.
Por otra parte, el jefe del Ejecutivo municipal anunció que en febrero se va a iniciar la remodelación de la cancha 4 del gimnasio Hugo Ítalo Favale, que se va a poner en valor el gimnasio del barrio La Cantera y que en marzo van a comenzar los trabajos en el natatorio Ana Karelovich.
A su vez, el concejal Pelloli expresó que “sabemos del esfuerzo de cada uno de los y las deportistas de la ciudad, sabemos que no es fácil hacer deportes y competir estando tan lejos de las grandes ciudades, y por eso estos premiso son un reconocimiento a todo el esfuerzo que realizan, y la pasión que le ponen a lo que hacen; y es un reconocimiento a sus familias y a todos los que los acompañan cada día”.
“Han hecho del deporte ushuaiense un deporte cada vez mejor y esta gestión municipal está para acompañarlos”, remarcó el edil, y afirmó que “esta no va a ser la única fiesta del deporte, esto va a tener continuidad por el apoyo de los concejales y la decisión del intendente Vuoto de acompañar esto”.
“Nosotros estamos para acompañarlos y lo vamos a seguir apoyando cada participación en un evento deportivo y mejorando la infraestructura deportiva de la ciudad”, sentenció.
En tanto, la presidenta del IMD, Liliana Gavilán, consideró que “esto es un mimo a los deportistas y un reconocimiento muy necesario al esfuerzo que hacen día a día” y agradeció al intendente Vuoto por “apoyar todas las iniciativas que venimos instando desde el IMD”.
La funcionaria mencionó que “obtuvimos el acompañamiento del concejal Pelloli, quien escuchó nuestra propuesta y desde el primer momento se puso a trabajar para que esto no sea un evento esporádico, sino que se mantenga en el tiempo por medio de una ordenanza que fue apoyada por el resto de los concejales”.
Gavilán resaltó lo hecho por “federaciones, asociaciones y referentes de todas las disciplinas que trabajaron en la definición de las ternas y en fundamentar la elección de los ganadores”, y el aporte “del Círculo de Periodistas Deportivos y de periodistas invitados”.
Acompañaron al intendente Vuoto en la entrega de los reconocimientos y de los Olivia de Oro y de Platino integrantes del Gabinete municipal.
