Las interrupciones del suministro de electricidad le costaron a Tierra del Fuego u$s11.300 por hora, mientras que en el caso de los cortes totales, implicó una pérdida de u$s 125.000 por hora, según datos de la Fundación Innovación Fueguina (FINNOVA).
Según sus estimaciones, a nivel diario, las pérdidas ascienden a u$s 272.000 en el caso de las interrupciones de los servicios, mientras que en el caso de los cortes totales, la pérdida supera los u$s3 millones.
En el caso de la industria, las pérdidas por interrupción de servicio ascienden a u$s 168.074 diarios, mientras que por hora representa u$s 7.003.
Es en este sentido, agregaron que el sector eléctrico tiene un rol de proveedor estratégico por lo que los impactos en él se prolongan sobre el producto bruto geográfico de la provincia.
Además, destacaron que los sectores más vulnerables ante la interrupción del suministro son los productivos, en especial considerando que la provincia tiene una amplia participación de la fabricación de equipos y aparatos. Esta industria representa el 22,4% del valor agregado de la provincia, y el 0,3% para la nación, mientras que nuclea el 14% del empleo de la provincia.
El impacto de los cortes también se da en la construcción, la minería y en la producción de maquinaria. En caso de expandirse, también consideraron que puede impactar en otros sectores relevantes para la provincia como el turismo, servicios profesionales y los ligados a la comunicación o el comercio.
Es que el consumo eléctrico se destina en un 53% a grandes industrias, el 29% a uso residencial, el 10% a uso general, el 5% a la demanda mediana y el 3% a los espacios públicos.
Al observar la distribución de los grandes consumidores a nivel nacional, se comprende mejor la relevancia del servicio sobre la provincia, en especial por la relevancia de su sector industrial.
La distribución sectorial dentro del consumo eléctrico de la manufactura a nivel nacional se distribuye en un 20% a metales básicos, un 15,8% a la industria química, un 12,8% a minerales no metálicos, un 10,8% a alimentos y en quinto lugar se agrupan madera y papel con un 8,3%.
El sector eléctrico es el segundo en orden de importancia en la provincia, por detrás de los servicios de minería, aunque medido en volumen de producción, el sector eléctrico se impone como el primero.
El sector de generación eléctrica, según estimó FINNOVA, representa el 1% del valor agregado de la provincia ya que genera u$s 32,74 millones.
El sector de producción de energía es más amplio que el eléctrico en sí mismo, y la provincia se ubica como la cuarta en producción de gas natural y la séptima en producción de crudo.
