El intendente de Ushuaia, Walter Vuoto, se reunió con integrantes del Comité Ejecutivo de la Federación de Cooperativas Federadas Ltda. (FECOFE), en el marco de las gestiones que realiza en la provincia de Santa Fe y la Ciudad de Buenos Aires para traer alimentos a bajo costo a la provincia en beneficios de todos los vecinos y vecinas.
El objetivo del encuentro fue establecer redes que permitan potenciar y seguir consolidando el circuito de economía social generado a través del Mercado Concentrador Municipal.
En esa línea, Vuoto y los integrantes de FECOFE acordaron impulsar la elaboración y firma de un convenio marco para proveer de productos a precios beneficiosos, y el desarrollo de capacitaciones.
Cabe mencionar que la FECOFE nuclea a cooperativas y productores de alimentos de distintas regiones del país incluida la Patagonia. La potencial colaboración apunta a ampliar la oferta de productos de calidad a precios bajos, complementando lo que hacen en cada edición del Mercado Concentrador los productores y comercios locales.
Posteriormente el intendente de Ushuaia visitó el Mercado Popular La Toma de Rosario, donde se reunió con productores que comercializan su producción sin intermediarios para interiorizarse sobre su experiencia.
En ambas actividades Vuoto estuvo acompañado por el jefe de Gabinete de la Municipalidad de Ushuaia; Sebastián Iriarte; por el subsecretario de Desarrollo Económico del Municipio, Roberto Trujillo; y por el secretario general del Sindicato Unificado de Trabajadores de la Educación Fueguina (SUTEF), Horacio Catena.
