Al menos cuatro soldados muertos y 18 heridos tras desbarrancar un camión en San Martín de los Andes. Trabajan para rescatar a los hombres atrapados en el vehículo siniestrado.
Cuatro miembros del Ejército Argentino murieron y dieciocho sufrieron heridas de diversa gravedad cuando un camión del Regimiento de Caballería de Montaña IV volcó hoy y cayó a un precipicio de unos quince metros a la vera de la Ruta Provincial 62, camino al Lago Lolog, a seis kilómetros de la ciudad neuquina de San Martín de los Andes.
Un comunicado oficial del Ejército Argentino informó que se produjeron cuatro muertos y dieciocho heridos, nueve de los cuales fueron trasladados al Hospital Ramón Carrillo y los restantes a la Clínica Chapelco, ambos centros de salud en la localidad de San Martín de los Andes.
Del Hospital Carrillo, uno de los heridos fue externado a la brevedad, afirmaron fuentes de prensa del centro asistencial.
Los muertos fueron identificados como el cabo primero Cristian González, el cabo Martín Román, el soldado voluntario Oscar Morales y la soldado voluntaria Guadalupe Canuillán, según detalló el comunicado oficial del Ejército.
La institución explicó que «en el día de la fecha, durante el repliegue hacia el cuartel del personal del Regimiento de Caballería de Exploración de Montaña 4 que se encontraba realizando una actividad de adiestramiento operacional en proximidades del Lago Lolog, el vehículo en que eran transportados se desbarrancó cuando circulaba sobre la ruta Provincial 62».
«En este difícil momento, el Ejército Argentino expresa sus condolencias y acompaña en su pesar a los familiares y afectos del personal fallecido», agregó.
El ministro de Defensa, Jorge Taiana, expresó en su cuenta de la red social X (ex Twitter): «Lamento profundamente el accidente ocurrido hoy en San Martín de los Andes, en el que fallecieron y resultaron heridos integrantes del Regimiento de Caballería de Exploración de Montaña IV. Mis condolencias a sus seres queridos y camaradas».
Por su parte, el ministro del Interior, Eduardo «Wado» de Pedro, envió hoy sus condolencias a los familiares de los cuatro miembros del Ejército Argentino que fallecieron al volcar un camión del Regimiento de Caballería de Montaña IV, a seis kilómetros de la ciudad neuquina de San Martín de los Andes.
«Quiero expresar mis condolencias a los familiares, camaradas y seres queridos de los cuatro integrantes del Ejército Argentino pertenecientes al Regimiento de Caballería de Exploración de Montaña 4 de San Martín de los Andes que fallecieron en esta tragedia», manifestó De Pedro en su cuenta de la red social X (ex Twitter).
En tanto, el Ministerio Público Fiscal de Neuquén (MPFN) informó sobre el inicio de una investigación para determinar las circunstancias del siniestro vial a cargo de la fiscal Inés Gerez, que solicitó a la Policía provincial la realización de una pericia accidentológica para determinar la dinámica del desbarrancamiento y la posible existencia de una falla mecánica en el rodado.
Además, que en las próximas horas se intentará entrevistar a las personas sobrevivientes para obtener información sobre el hecho.
Detalles del drama
De acuerdo con la información provisoria que recolectó el Ministerio Público Fiscal en conjunto con la Policía provincial, el hecho ocurrió alrededor de las 14.50 cuando un Mercedez Benz 1518 del Ejército Argentino, volcó sobre la Ruta Provincial 62, camino al lago Lolog, a la altura del kilómetro 9. En el camión viajaban 22 soldados (varones y mujeres), que regresaban de realizar ejercicios militares.
«Hay cuatro soldados fallecidos (tres varones y una mujer); nueve internados en estado crítico; y nueve internados en estado estable», había explicado la fiscal del caso.
Y en relación con el siniestro sufrido por un vehículo del Regimiento de Caballería de Exploración de Montaña 4, el Ejército Argentino informó que el Ministerio Público Fiscal de Neuquén ha iniciado una investigación para determinar las circunstancias de este hecho, que incluye la realización de una pericia accidentológica, pero, asimismo, en el ámbito interno de la Fuerza, se están efectuando las actuaciones pertinentes
Cristian Sáez, comisario mayor y director de Seguridad de Junín de los Andes, explicó a Télam que el camión Mercedes Benz «estaba volviendo de Lolog» y afirmó que «en un sector de curva y contracurva chocó contra el guardarrail y cayó por causas que se intentan establecer. No sabemos si fue por causas mecánicas o humanas», destacó.
El gobernador neuquino Omar Gutiérrez, se pronunció en la red social X: «Lamento profundamente la tragedia sufrida en el siniestro vial protagonizado por un camión del Regimiento de Caballería de Exploración de Montaña 4, Escuadrón Montado B, del Ejército. Abrazo con dolor a familiares, amigos e integrantes de la fuerza», escribió el mandatario provincial.
En tanto, el intendente de San Martín de Los Andes, Carlos Saloniti, publicó también en X (ex Twitter): «En un día de profundo dolor para la comunidad de nuestra ciudad, quiero expresar mi acompañamiento, respeto y solidaridad a todas las familias que integran el Regimiento de Caballería y Exploración de Montaña 4, y decretar duelo municipal por las víctimas fatales de esta tragedia».
En el lugar trabajaron seis ambulancias del Municipio y del Hospital Ramón Carrillo, junto a personal del Ejército Argentino, brigadas de Parques Nacionales y de la Dirección de Tránsito de la Policía neuquina.
En declaraciones a radio LU 19, Sebastián Torcivia, de Defensa Civil de San Martín de los Andes, aseveró que el camión del Ejército volvía de una maniobra en el Puesto Los Bayos, y en una curva bastante pronunciada el camión siguió de largo.
Torcivia agregó que el camión cayó al lado de una vivienda que está en el lugar, y que sus habitantes llamaron a los bomberos con lo que se activó el sistema de emergencia y se inició el rescate de las víctimas y traslados de los heridos.
