(Por Jerónimo Granero, enviado especial) El seleccionado argentino, sin Lionel Messi, estuvo a la altura en los 3.650 metros de La Paz y con autoridad y buen fútbol goleó a Bolivia por 3-0 en la segunda fecha de las Eliminatorias sudamericanas para el Mundial 2026.
Enzo Fernández, a los 30 minutos, y Nicolás Tagliafico, a los 41′, ambos del primer tiempo, y Nicolás González, a los 38′ del segundo, marcaron los goles del vigente campeón del mundo y de América en el estadio Hernando Siles de la capital boliviana.
Bolivia jugó con uno menos desde los 38 minutos del primer tiempo por la expulsión de Roberto Fernández por una dura plancha sobre Cristian «Cuti» Romero.
Pese a la ausencia de Messi, quien observó el gran partido de sus compañeros en el banco de suplentes, la Argentina se impuso con claridad ante un flojo combinado boliviano.
El equipo conducido por el argentino Gustavo Costas deberá mejorar mucho si pretende alcanzar una de las seis plazas directas para el próximo Mundial.
Argentina se plantó en la siempre respetada y difícil altura de La Paz y desplegó un fútbol vistoso y contundente para sumar su segundo triunfo en el camino hacia la defensa del título en el Mundial de Estados Unidos, México y Canadá.
Con grandes actuaciones del capitán Ángel Di María, quien aportó dos asistencias, Enzo Fernández, Julián Álvarez y todo el bloque defensivo, el equipo de Lionel Scaloni extendió su invicto en las Eliminatorias sudamericanas.
El seleccionado completó el camino hacia Qatar 2022 sin perder y solo sufrió dos derrotas en los últimos cuatro años: contra Brasil en la Copa América 2019 y ante Arabia Saudita en el debut mundialista.
Además, la Argentina igualó el historial contra Bolivia en La Paz con su quinto triunfo de la historia. Los anteriores habían sido en 1965, 1973, 2005 y el último 2020, también con Scaloni de entrenador.
Argentina comenzó el partido con Alexis Mac Allister por el medio y Enzo Fernández más suelto desde la izquierda hacia el medio.
En el ataque, Julián Álvarez fue el centrodelantero junto a Nicolás González y el capitán Ángel Di María, por izquierda y derecha, respectivamente.
De entrada, el equipo de Lionel Scaloni se adueñó del partido y a los 10 minutos fue el primero que avisó con un buen remate de larga distancia de Enzo Fernández que el arquero Guillermo Viscarra sacó del ángulo superior derecho.
Bolivia intentó sorprender a la defensa de la Argentina con pelotazos largos para Marcelo Moreno Martins a la espalda de Nahuel Molina pero nunca pudo estar cerca del arco defendido por Emiliano Martínez.
La única aproximación del equipo del argentino Gustavo Costa fue a los 27 minutos con un remate desde afuera de Luciano Ursino que el «Dibu» pudo contener sin dar rebote.
El gol del campeón del Mundo estaba al caer en la soleada tarde de La Paz y llegó a la media hora del partido luego de una gran jugada colectiva.
Julián Álvarez se tiró atrás y abrió a la derecha hacia Di María, que tiró un centro preciso al área grande para la entrada por sorpresa de Enzo Fernández.
En su segundo partido en Eliminatorias y en un escenario siempre adverso, el crack de Chelsea, de Inglaterra, abrió el camino de la victoria.
Unos minutos después, a los 35′, el lateral Roberto Fernández le metió un duro planchazo a «Cuti» Romero y recibió la segunda tarjeta amarilla.
El árbitro uruguayo Esteban Ostojich fue a ver la acción en el VAR y le sacó la roja directa al jugador boliviano.
El golpe letal del seleccionado campeón del Mundo llegó a los 31 minutos después de un tiro libre ejecutado con precisión por Di María para habilitar a Tagliafico que, sin marca, puso el 2-0 con cabezazo.
Argentina no necesitó de hacer mayor esfuerzo físico en el resto del primer tiempo y se dedicó a mover la pelota sin importar los efectos de los 3.650 metros de altura sobre el nivel del mar.
Sin misterios y fórmulas raras, el equipo de Scaloni jugó en la altura como si fuera el estadio Lusail en la final del Mundo o en el Monumental.
En el segundo tiempo, Argentina esperó y cuando pudo lastimar apretó el acelerador para llegar con peligro al arco boliviano.
Así fue que a los 38′, Nicolás González marcó el 3-0 con un zurdazo potente para afirmarse como un jugador clave del ciclo Scaloni pese a su ausencia en el Mundial por lesión.
Sobre el final, Scaloni dispuso el ingreso de Alejandro Garnacho para que la joven promesa de Manchester United quede blindado por un largo tiempo para jugar con el seleccionado argentino.
Argentina continuará las Eliminatorias el 12 de octubre cuando recibirá a Paraguay en el estadio Monumental y luego visitará a Perú, el 17 en Lima.
